Happy Valentine’s Day! 14 weeks on the 14th. Fun.
Size of the Baby: About 3.5 inches, or the size of a lemon.
Weight gain/loss: 6 pounds so far. I had a few days of utter panic when I realized I’d gained 4 pounds in only 2 weeks. If I continue at 2 lbs/week, that’s like 60 pounds, which is terrifying. I know I’m supposed to gain weight, but after working so hard over the past couple years to drop 20 pounds, it’s so depressing to see the scale going up again.
Maternity clothes: I noticed that one of my pairs of work pants felt tight all day yesterday. It’s my best-fitting pair of pants, so I guess it’s fitting that it’s the first pair to
Sleep: Still not sleeping very well. Very annoyed by this. I’m finally starting to feel less exhausted though, which is nice.
Movement: Nope. Way too early.
Best moment this week? I didn’t get to tell Jen at our Super Bowl party, so I finally managed to tell her over lunch last Wednesday. She was the last close friend I needed to tell, so that was fun. I also spilled the beans to my group at work, which was especially fun since someone had commented at our group meeting last week that no one else was allowed to show up pregnant. (One coworker is due in April, and another’s wife is due in July.)
Food cravings: Nothing, really. I’m finally starting to be somewhat interested in coffee and hot drinks again, which is the one thing I really DIDN’T want during the first trimester.
What I miss: Not much for now, especially since the overwhelming fatigue is start to lift and I no longer miss feeling like a real, live person with energy.
What I’m looking forward to: According to the internets, I should start to show soon because my uterus is big enough to start pushing other things out of the way. It’d be nice to be somewhat visibly pregnant if only to be reassured that things are going well.
