This is the first of three posts about yummy things I’ve made recently. I know I’m not a gourmet chef or anything, but hey — I still enjoying sharing some of the things I make!
First up: John and Kelly invited us over to watch the Super Bowl a couple weeks ago, and I took snacks!
First up were these Spinach and Feta Cheese Bundles. They were a bit messy to make, mainly because I had trouble fitting all the ingredients inside my little dough squares, but they turned out very tasty.
In fact, I liked them so much that I made another batch later that week when Jose was in Corpus Christi for his mom’s surgery. I only made one change — I brushed the dough with a little bit of olive oil before I filled it with stuff. I may have just eaten spinach and feta bundles for dinner. Maybe.
I also made Pizza Pinwheels. Although these still tasted pretty good, they were very greasy. (Both of these photos were taken before I baked them, so you don’t see the greasiness.) In retrospect, I think this was due partly to the crescent roll dough (which is always kind of buttery) and partly due to the fact that I altered the recipe a bit and added pizza sauce to the rolls themselves (instead of just using it as a dipping sauce).
Still, they were tasty and I may make them again sometime without incorporating the sauce inside the roll. In other words, I’ll follow the recipe the way it’s written. Go figure.

you could use pizza dough instead of crescent rolls. It would reduce the grease while enabling you to use the pizza sauce. if you don’t want to make your own pizza dough (which is easy, but takes time) or roll out dough (which is annoying due its elasticity), you can use the thin crust dough in the can.

The greasy could have been from the brand pepperoni you used too.
Also, why don’t you ever make stuff like this when you come to my house? 🙂
