This is my Garmin Forerunner 305. I’ve had it since January 2007 and wear it almost every single time I run or bike. I love it. I love tracking my mileage and pace and heart rate and cadence. So I was shocked and dismayed this morning when, 7 miles into my 10 mile run during a short walk break to take a swig of water, I heard the noise of something solid hitting the concrete.
I looked down. My Garmin was lying on the sidewalk. Or, to be more accurate, the FACE of my Garmin was lying on the sidewalk although the back was still firmly attached to the strap on my wrist.
How weird is that?? I carried it for the rest of my run (which went fine; through mile 7 when I lost data I was averaging right at 11:00/mile, excellent long run pace). Normally I would take something like this as an excuse to buy a new gadget, but I actually love the Forerunner 305, and if I had to buy another one I would just buy the same thing again. So when I got home, I took a closer look.
The top doesn’t actually snap into the bottom, so I guess the glue or adhesive just wore out. But the good news is that the only parts of the front and back that actually need to touch for the watch to work are the contacts at the top, so that the battery in the back can power the electronics in the front. I attacked it with some super glue and I think it just might work like new!

That’s crazy! I’ve never seen something like that happen. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your fix works.
