My race photos from RunGirl actually turned out pretty well — in a few of them, I’m even airborne with both feet off the ground! Woo! I hardly ever buy race photos, but I had such a great day on Sunday that I think I may get one of these.
Side note: Before I pat myself on the back TOO much about my PR, I should note that I was beaten by a 13-year-old, a 10-year-old, and an 8-YEAR-OLD. And the 8-year-old was the fastest of the three; she ran a 1:54:48. Dang.
I didn’t mention it in my race report, but you can see in the photos that I wore my headphones for this race. Although I wear them on at least 90% of my runs, I can’t remember the last time I wore them in an actual race. I decided to take them on Sunday because I thought I might be running alone a lot, and I was right. With only ~300 people in the whole race, the runners were pretty spread out. I could always see people ahead of me and behind me, but there usually wasn’t anyone close enough to chat with — or eavesdrop on. And yes, eavesdropping is TOTALLY how I entertain myself during most races. Don’t you?

Yes, eavesdropping is very helpful to me in races, especially longer ones. I always try to find a pair of interesting people and latch onto them in a half.
