There are about a zillion photos on Flickr of all the great signs people carried at Saturday’s Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear in Washington DC. I only got to watch about 20 minutes of it, but I read the transcript of Jon Stewart’s closing speech yesterday morning and despite the humor thrown in — after all, it was 2 comedians leading the rally — it actually made a lot of sense. I rarely discuss politics because I have no patience for those who are unwilling to consider an opposing point of view, and there are a lot of people out there that seem unwilling to stop and think about the issues. I consider myself a pretty smart person, but I also know for a fact that I’m wrong sometimes. I’m wrong a LOT. So how can anyone ever be certain that their opinion is the only one? Or the right one? We can’t expect to move forward as a country if we’re convinced that the other side is out to get us. We all live here, and we all like America. It’s time to work together to make it better.
