We had fun on Friday night at the Houston Zoo’s annual Feast with the Beasts. We went alone last year and loved it, so we dragged a whole group along this time. The only downside was that it seemed a lot more crowded this year — even though they were sold out both years. Maybe they sold more tickets this year? Who knows, but the lines seems a little crazier. Nonetheless we still had a great time as we rushed between grabbing food and seeing as many animals as we could. They serve the food for 2 hours before the band starts, but I wish they served for 3 hours!
While we ate bite-sized pieces of various food from local restaurants, the komodo dragon enjoyed his raw pig(?) dinner. Mmmmm.
The zoo has a month-old baby elephant who is SOOOOO cute. I want one.
Elephants can also catch things with their trunks! And this one could even stand on her head! That was crazy to see. The zoo looks pretty cool at night, with strings of lights everywhere and all the trees lit up.
The Spin Doctors were the featured band, but we didn’t listen to much of them. (I didn’t even know the Spin Doctors still existed! Oh, the middle school memories!) Instead, we wandered through the reptile house, which stayed open late after all the restaurants had stopped serving food.
This guy, for one, was just EXHAUSTED by his evening.
I already can’t wait for next year!

we were talking about how if they served food all 4 hrs, the lines probably wouldn’t be as crazy, because people wouldn’t be rushing from food to food, but more like meander all over the zoo stopping to snack as they went along.
But it was tons of fun! We especially like the grown up ride on the carousel… 🙂

That sounds like lots of fun! I’ve been wanting to go see the new baby elephant.
