Every time I see my parents, I am struck with the realization that I am really (really) lucky to have parents who are happy, healthy, active, and generally awesome. They left this morning on the road back to North Carolina after a visit that felt far too short, but never fear — we packed a lot of action into their 5-day visit. We ate a couple dinners out and cooked a few at home, ran errands, watched a bunch of the World Cup, and went on walks. Gavin and Jen brought the family over on Friday night so my mom could see Carina, Drake and Eleanor. Mom came to the triathlon yesterday (although Dad slept in). We went to the nursery in search of a good tree for our backyard, even though it was insanely hot. And last week while Jose and I were at work, Mom and Dad did some shopping for my brother’s upcoming wedding, and visited the San Jacinto Monument.
I wasn’t in photographer mode, apparently, since this is the only photo I have of them in town. At Target.
Jose and I went off to look for a sun shade for his car, and returned to find Mom and Dad relaxing in the patio furniture area enjoying their Target-bought Starbucks. For some reason, I just thought it was really funny, so I snuck up behind them and snapped a photo. They were unfazed, so I took another one. (Mom blinked.)
For the record, it was very comfy furniture.
