It’s springtime, and there are pretty flowers everywhere! I know I sound like a broken record over the past month, but yesterday was just an awesome, gorgeous day. In south Texas, you have to soak up every moment of these days, because they don’t last long. By the end of next month, I have no doubt that I’ll be complaining about the heat and humidity.
These pink flowers have recently begun to bloom. One day I noticed a handful of them. The next day there were more. The next day, still more. There is a whole grove of tiny pink flowers! They are exploding in bloom!
But, you might be wondering, WHERE are these pretty pink flowers? WHERE? Oh, they’re in our backyard. The backyard that we haven’t mowed since last fall. Yep, those pretty pink flowers are actually pesky weeds.
Pesky, but pretty. And although the backyard needs its spring mowing and fertilizing, I can’t bring myself to mow them down!
Happy weekend!

A weed is a plant you don’t like. If you like them, leave them there!

Apparently these are called pink evening primrose. I always grew up knowing them as buttercups, but now that I look I see buttercups are something completely different. Huh.

Gavin always left a few pink flowers alone when he mowed. The new lawn service isn’t so sentimental. 😛
