This morning there was some goodness going on in the sky when I walked out the door at 7:25. The brilliant orange clouds lasted only a moment; by the time I got to the highway, they’d faded into an otherwise unremarkable sunrise. But I got to see it, and only because I was up earlier than usual.
Then I got to spend two hours in the space shuttle simulator checking a few things out for our upcoming flight. Some flight controllers from another group joined me. They hadn’t been in the simulator in years, if ever. But my job gets me in the simulator on a pretty regular basis. I’ve been in a real funk about work over the past couple weeks, and their excitement at being in the cockpit reminded me that there are some cool things about my job.
It’s been a pretty good Wednesday so far.
