I mentioned the thought of doing a Half Ironman and immediately, a conflict appeared. The Ironstar in Conroe is on October 29, and I found out yesterday that 1) I’m invited to Rachel’s wedding and 2) it’s been moved from October 21 to October 28. Not a problem…if the wedding was in Houston. It’s in Georgia. So, it looks like the Half Ironman is not meant to be this year. I even looked up a calendar to see if perhaps there was another one nearby, but alas, nothing. I may set my sights on the Half Ironman in Galveston next April though…
I basically did nothing last night except run 4 miles on the treadmill (averaging 11:00/mile which is fast for me when running on the ‘mill) and then ignore Jose for two hours while I messed around with the HARRA website database (the subject of my previous “help!” post). We did have a yummy dinner at Mediterraneo though, so I wasn’t a totally horrible girlfriend. Whew. As for the website and its database, I’ve basically decided that for once, the solution to my problem might be to just go buy one of the “For Dummies” books and work through it.
Tonight is a crazy brick workout with emphasis on transitions (this workout was rained out last week): 6 mile bike, 2 mile run, 6 mile bike, 1 mile run, 6 mile bike, 1 mile run. I think I may die.
Despite the workouts, I seem to be gaining weight. This morning I weighed more than I have in at least two years. NOT COOL. The problem is that with all the workouts, I’m always hungry! I was hungry when I woke up this morning, and my stomach is already growling in anticipation of lunch. SIGH. Goals for the next few weeks: start packing lunches a couple times per week, and go out to each a few times less.

Do Galveston. You know this but the weight may be muscle. The swimming and biking must be developing muscle groups that you didn’t work on when you were just running.
Just one more thing about the database thing. All database platforms will work well with excel as data entry. In fact, this is quite common because it is so easy to input data into an Excel spreadsheet. Before you get a book, just decide what database platform you want to use. If it’s single-user you should just use Access. You probably already have it if you have Office.
Wow. That’s quite a workout you have planned there. Let us know how it turns out.

Take fruit to work to eat when you get hungry. Healthy and filling.

Sarah!
Sorry it’s been so long, but caught up a little on your blog, and I think it’s awesome that you want to do a half ironman. For some reason, your blog is blocked at my job…must be all the dirty words and pictures you put up. 😛 I don’t understand thier site blocking criteria, but whatever it is, I can’t see this from there, which is where I do most of my blogging…great, huh? blogging from work?
Anyway, have missed reading up on ya, and glad to see all is good.
See ya soon, I hope! You doing Maribelle’s?

Eating out makes me gain weight even if I eat a salad. Salads at many restaurants have probably 800+ calories, which is more than I eat any time when I eat dinner at home. Not eating out *really* helps me lose weight.

Sam — yep, I’m planning to do Maribelle’s!

My wedding will be full of cookies and cake so know that I am no help at all. However, I am all about dieting right now (so that I can have the cookies and cake later)and I find that if I plan my meals in the morning, drink two liters of water and eat every 4-5 hours with no carbs after 3, I’m in there. I tried on my NEW (as in just bought them) clam diggers fresh out of the dryer (which means you have to give them time to fit like jeans!) and they were loose. WOOHOO! You too can be a successful looser of weight. I am not only a client, I am the president!
