Size of the Baby: Same as last week actually — somewhere around 3 pounds and 16.5 inches long. The ranges the baby sites show are widening so it’s hard to say for sure. Since she was 2 lbs 5 oz almost 3 weeks ago, I’m betting she’s reached the 3 lb mark or more by now.
Weight gain/loss: Holding steady from last week at 18 pounds total. I was talking to my division’s admin at work the other day and she asked me how much I’d gained, so I told her. She was shocked and said it didn’t look like that much, and that it was all belly. That made me feel pretty good!
Maternity clothes: I bought a couple more shirts and a pair of work pants, but I think (hope) at this point I’ve got enough to last me through August without having to wear the same 5 outfits every week.
Sleep: Sleep is mediocre. I wake up at least a couple times a night — at least once to pee, and a few more times because inevitably my shoulder or arm has fallen asleep and I need to roll over to the other side. I’ve been sleeping with a pillow between my legs but frankly, I’m not sure it’s actually doing anything. Overall though, it could be worse.
Movement: She continues to be a major wiggler. New this week is that I can actually feel various body parts (although I can’t identify what parts) pushing out as she moves around. I’ll feel a knee or an elbow or a foot or something pushing out, and if I poke back, she pulls it back in. It’s pretty entertaining, actually.
Food cravings: My love of Sonic cherry limeade is back. Mmm. I think I will get one today!
Best moment this week? Feeling all the movement! And SEEING all the movement. It’s so weird, but so neat.
I should also mention that I had a nice feel-good moment last night. We had our first baby class (more on that in a minute) and there were 6 other couples there. They were all between 20 and 28 weeks so out of everyone, I’m farthest along — and I wasn’t the biggest person! Obviously pregnancy looks different on everyone, but after scanning the room, I decided that I am looking pretty darn good for 30 weeks pregnant. Go me!
What I miss: Feeling like I’m reasonably in shape. In the last couple weeks, I’ve started to get out of breath from ridiculously low amounts of effort — like climbing the stairs to our bonus room, where my sewing machine is. I also occasionally feel my heart racing, even when I’m just sitting around. My doctor assures me this is a totally normal result of the increased blood volume that comes along with being pregnant, so I’m not worried, but it’s still kind of frustrating to feel so out of shape.
On the bright side, I’ve got plans with several people in my group at work to sign up for the half marathon lottery that opens tomorrow. I’m really crossing my fingers that we get in this year! The race in mid-January will be good motivation for me to get back out there after baby is born. I know I probably won’t get the go-ahead to start running again until the end of September at the earliest, but that still leaves 3.5 months to get ready. I’ll be coming off 10+ months of no running so I’m sure it will be my worst half marathon ever. But I’ll be back out there!
What I’m looking forward to: We had our first baby class last night! It’s a 6-week class so we’ll be busy with that on Monday nights for the next several weeks. The class was a little cheesy (it begins and ends with “relaxation” time when Jose gets to give me a massage — not that I’m complaining, but it’s a little awkward in a room full of other couples) but it was also informative. Last night we learned all about the stages of labor and watched our first X-rated video that was, as the nurse said, “not the GOOD kind of X-rated.” Fun times.
Milestones: Her brain is getting more wrinkled! Go brain go. Her bone marrow is completely in charge of red blood cell production! Her fingernails and toenails are done! And as always, she continues to gain fat and get chubbier.
On the “are we ready for baby?” front, things are progressing. We took an epic trip to Ikea over the weekend and came home with a bookcase and some bins for the room. Big items that we need to check off in the next few weeks include getting a crib and finding a pediatrician.

You have such an adorable baby bump! And you do have a pretty tiny belly for being as far along as you are. Must be because you’re so tall

You look great Sarah! I think I had more cherry limeades when I was preggo than ever before…it helped me feel nice and cool.
