So I’m definitely taking a “mental health day” tomorrow and as a bonus, I’ll get a jump on our long weekend — hooray Columbus Day! I’m determined to do fun things all day. Here’s my list:
1) Sleep past 5 am. This will happen. Oh yes it will.
2) Get a library card. So I can borrow Kindle books! Several friends have told me that all the new releases have months-long waiting lists due to the small number of e-copies, but at least I’ll be able to join the waiting list.
3) Bake something tasty. Probably something with pumpkin, since Jose’s master life plan for the next two months involves eating a different kind of pumpkin-based food every week. He actually started a week early, so we’ve already had pumpkin cookies and pumpkin pie. There are many options to choose from, like cinnamon pumpkin bread, or pumpkin and chocolate cheesecake bars, or mini pumpkin oreo cheesecakes. Or maybe something less sweet and more savory, like pumpkin soup.
4) Do something crafty. In addition to sewing, I’ve started reading some craft blogs and there are SO many neat projects out there. I loved crafts as a kid and the urge to make cool things is back. I’ve pinned several things on Pinterest and tomorrow sounds like a nice day to actually make one of them.
Here are the contenders: some kind of yarn wreath like the one spotted on Indie Pretty Projects, a jewelry frame (of which this Kevin & Amanda tutorial is only one example), or the fabric bookmark tutorial by CraftSnob as seen on Skip to my Lou. There are also the handful of sewing projects on my list, like another pair of pajama pants (for me this time) or a cute “fat quarter purse” that I bought a cheap pattern for.
5) Watch at least one of my guilty pleasure TV shows. I’ve got episodes of Glee and America’s Next Top Model just waiting for me on the Tivo.
6) Buy new shoes. Specifically, I need new brown heels for work, because the pair I currently have are looking beat up. On top of that, they are boring and very un-cute.
7) Enjoy dinner with friends, one of whom is in town for the week from Boston.
