It’s day 40 of this year’s 100 day project! This year I’m doing #100daysofsaroystitches and have been working my way down a list of ~10 different projects that I wanted to either make significant progress on or completely finish before the 100th day arrives in mid-July.
Previous project updates: Days 1-20
Here’s what I’ve been working on in the last few weeks:
Pantone quilt challenge. I finished the quilt top for my challenge entry! Since the challenge runs through June, I should have enough time to get it quilted too — I’m considering a spiral pattern centered on the main block. Probably with light orange/coral thread? My original idea had been to quilt the block lines throughout the negative space, but then I decided to do all that same-color piecing instead and don’t think that structure needs to be reinforced with the quilting anymore. Hmm.
Trinket quilt. I finished this top too, in time for my last class session at Sparkly Elephant. I’m a little stumped at the moment on how to quilt it though. I was leaning heavily toward Bobbie/Geeky Bobbin’s suggestion of using yellow/gold Invisafil thread and straight line quilting it, but yesterday at my guild meeting someone suggested two different motifs — something in the center diamond, and something else in the background. If you have suggestions, let me hear them!!
Memory quilts. I’m making two of these for a friend — one for her, and one for her mom. It took me a week to get the shirts cut up and almost 200 half square triangles sewed and trimmed, but this week I was able to move on to piecing the tops together. I got one finished, with one still to go.
Surprise quilt. I’m making a quilt as a gift for someone (shhh) so I got a few blocks pieced together for that. I need 16 blocks in all, plus borders, so I’ve got a ways to go on this one still.
Pollinate quilt. Jose and I went to New Orleans for a quick kid-free getaway so I took along my Pollinate quilt. I haven’t worked on this in a while, but it’s always a good travel sewing option. We were having fun walking the French Quarter and didn’t spend much time in our hotel room, so all I got done was a bunch of basting but hey, progress is progress!
40 days down, 60 to go!
