Another Halloween has come and gone, and it gets more fun every year as the girls grow! The next several years are going to be really fun as they really get into pumpkin carving, dressing up, and running around the neighborhood like crazy people.
We carved our pumpkin on Sunday night. Emma helped me scoop out the guts and drew the face with a sharpie, then I handled the carving and candle-lighting. I thought it turned out great! Charlotte supervised, and then excitedly grabbed a little plastic jack-o-lantern to announce “match! match!” Pretty cute stuff.
Yesterday morning, Charlotte got to trick-or-treat around the daycare with her class. I thought she might be a bit overwhelmed by all the chaos, but she enjoyed it! (I couldn’t get her to smile for a photo for the life of me, but she really did have fun.)
After work and school we hurried home for a costume change before heading to a friend’s house nearby for a party. There were people from all different places, and we didn’t know a lot of them but no matter — kids and candy make fast friends! After a group shot, the mob headed out for an hour of trick-or-treating.
We got home around 7:30 and I’d planned to take the girls to our neighbors’ houses, but Emma said she was tired so we decided to just call it a night! We got the girls into bed and then Jose and I spent the rest of the night watching the Astros game. It would’ve been nice to see them win it all last night — but that just means it’ll be even better when they win Game 7 tonight!
Happy Halloween! Till next year!

I am a little jealous that you had good weather last night! In Tomball it poured and poured and poured. Trick or treating was not much fun, and we have loads of candy left over.

Oh what a bummer! We had a rainy one down here a couple years ago. Definitely makes the day less fun.

I love that Emma designed the pumpkin. Also rather than “Match Match” Elizabeth likes to say “same same” for things that match. So fun see the similarities with Charlotte since they are so close. I think Elizabeth was a bit overwhelmed by trick or treating but now is excited to ask for candy after every meal, and in between every meal, and first thing when she wakes up in the morning.

Ha! Elizabeth is a smart — she definitely doesn’t want to miss out on the candy. I think we actually managed to keep Charlotte from realizing all the goodness that was in her bucket, but by next year she’ll be on to us for sure.
