Hooray for Friday! I’m looking forward to a nice weekend to wind down from a very full week.
On Tuesday, Charlotte got ear tubes. We’d been through this process before with Emma, who got a set of tubes at 13 months old, so that definitely helped my comfort level going into this procedure — but there’s still something upsetting about seeing your baby be carried away through a door marked “surgery.”
We used the same ENT doctor as before and I really like him. Last time we had the procedure done at an outpatient center but this time it was done at the hospital. There wasn’t a strong reason for the change other than location, and in retrospect, I wish we’d gone with the outpatient center again. There was just so much more overhead and paperwork associated with the hospital that wasn’t there with the outpatient center.
In the end, everything went smoothly and Charlotte was only gone for about 25 minutes. She was SUPER MAD waking up from the anesthesia, but by early afternoon she was her usual active self again.

Also on the agenda for the weekend is Valentines Day prep. I have to help Emma with her valentines, make valentines for Charlotte, and get presents for the teachers in Charlotte’s room at daycare. I’m the “backup” room mom and haven’t done anything thus far, so when the main room mom asked me to handle Valentines Day, I figured it would be pretty rude to say no when she’s done so much for the other holidays and teacher birthdays thus far.
Oh and “Emma” is supposed to decorate a shoebox to use as her valentine mailbox. Which really means I have to help her make a mailbox. I think this calls for a pretty low-key approach — I’m thinking I’ll just cover a shoebox with blank paper and let her go to town with her markers.

I’ve gotten two Stitch Fix boxes in the last month thanks to a gift card from my sister (the first one) and an email waiving their usual styling fee (for the second one). I kept a top and a cardigan from the first box but struck out on the second. They’ve definitely nailed my style with both boxes…but I find their prices a bit steep so I have to really, really love an item to justify keeping it. There’s also usually at least a couple items in each box that just don’t fit quite right.
In the last couple years, I’ve now gotten 5 boxes so that’s 25 items — and I’ve kept 3 things. I wish I could find a one-stop-shop for all my clothing needs but I guess that’s pretty unrealistic.

Someone left a bible verse stuck to the backside of the toilet paper holder in a bathroom at work…and I found it sort of charming. There’s a lot of value in trying to be good and helpful, now and always.
