Here’s how I did in October…
Fall family fun! Done! Now if only the weather would cooperate and simmer down a little. It felt like an unseasonably warm October, even for Houston.
Finish 30 Days of Quilt Design. I finished it! And GUESS WHAT — I found out on Tuesday that I won the grand prize in a random drawing from the 43 people who completed the entire 30 days! I won a Tula Pink bundle from Gotham Quilts and an absolutely huge roll of batting from The Warm Company. I’m excited to pick something fun to do with the fabric bundle. And the batting roll? It’s 40 YARDS of batting. Most of my quilts are throw size or smaller and 40 yards of batting will be enough for 20+ quilts — I seriously now have enough batting to last me for several years. Pretty darn cool. I’m SO VERY excited!!
Run 3 times per week. This went great for a week, and then I sprained my foot. It’s been 3 weeks since that fateful Wednesday and while I almost went for a run last week, but decided to play it safe and I’m glad I did. Last week I could still feel some discomfort when I walked but it was manageable. This week I don’t feel any ache at all! I’m going to try a short run tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed the foot is healed!
Figure out how to get weekend alone time. Well, this was a bust. With so many fall activities in October, and then with Jose’s mom visiting us for the last week and half, weekend “me time” didn’t make it to the top of the priority list. Both Jose and I are still feeling frustrated over our lack of time to do anything but manage kids and collapse into bed — and I fully recognize that a lot of this is our perception, and that we do each actually have decent amounts of time to ourselves — so I’m hoping we can try again.
And here’s what I’m tackling in November…
17 by 2017 progress. I’ve done a couple things so far but didn’t get much done in the last week and a half. Jose’s mom was here, and while I always think I’ll have some extra time to take care of things while she hangs out with the kids, it never really works out that way! I think I can knock at least 6-8 items off the list in November which would leave another 8 or so for December.
Turn one of my 30 quilt designs into a full pattern. I’ve been wanting to develop another pattern — it’s been months since my pattern of the month exercise — and now I have 30 to choose from!
Track calories in MyFitnessPal. I fell off the tracking bandwagon around the same time I hurt my foot, so I haven’t achieved any weight loss in the last several weeks. (On the plus side, I haven’t gained any.) I want to get back to consistently tracking my meals and snacks in hopes of shedding the last ~12 pounds from my pregnancy with Charlotte.
One “no computer” night per week. My computer used to be upstairs at our old house, but now it’s in my sewing room/office right off the kitchen. I’ve fallen into a habit of heading into that room in the evening after the girls are in bed. I check my email, check in on our finances…and usually end up reading blogs or other miscellany for a while. It’d be nicer to take at least one night where I read or sew or watch TV with Jose instead.
