Freshly Pieced’s WIP Wednesday feature is on (possibly permanent?) hiatus but I still plan to post updates from time to time on my works in progress. I know there must be other link-ups out there…I just need to find them.
The big “news” is that I will be finishing my current quilt project tonight! Hallelujah! I’m very happy with the way it has turned out, but after working on it for 2+ months I must admit that I’m also very ready to be done with it and move on to something else. I haven’t posted many photos, but I will once I’ve sent it to its new home.
I attached the binding halfway on Monday night, and last night I tried glue basting for the first time ever as I folded the binding over to the back. The basic concept is that you apply a thin line of glue to secure your pieces together, and press with a hot dry iron to set. The glue holds everything in place until you sew it down and then — because it’s Elmer’s washable school glue — it washes out later on.
It seemed to work great and I’m excited to stitch everything down tonight. This could be a total game changer in my machine binding technique if it works as well as I think/hope it will…
I officially started Charlotte’s Christmas stocking last month after buying the kit back in the fall. It’s another snowman-themed pattern which should complement Emma’s stocking nicely. My goal is to have it done by December, so I’ve got plenty of time as long as I don’t take any extended breaks.
So far, I’ve only been stitching on Sunday nights while Jose and I watch Walking Dead. I’ll need to pick up the pace at some point, but at least I’m making progress. You can see the tree starting to form on the left and a snowman belly on the right.

I knew people would have good suggestions! Thanks!
Yep, I’ve just seen your link on Let’s Bee Social!! I have to say that whilst I certainly don’t want to think about Christmas for a while that stocking’s going to be gorgeous!
I do a lot of stitching during the Walking Dead too.
But think of the stories – “Oh, Charlotte, I made your stocking while watching a very popular zombie apocalypse tv show. The stocking is infused with LOVE! And ZOMBIES! BRAINS….”
Ha. “…a show you’re not allowed to watch until you are MUCH older!…”
