As you can probably imagine, this biggest goal for this month is final baby prep and other associated items.
Get ready for baby! The “must do” list includes installing the car seat bases in both cars, getting out the pack ‘n play since that’s where she’ll sleep at first (in our room), getting out Emma’s old clothes and washing them, digging out my pump and the bottles, and packing a hospital bag for me. The “nice to have” list includes decor in the baby’s room (which could be a little or a lot), some freezer meal prep, and some miscellaneous decluttering since I’m about to spend a lot of time at home.
Get ready to be off work for 3 months. In other words, clean up my desk, clean out my email inbox, and organize the resources my coworkers will need to cover my tasks while I’m gone.
Have some family fun. We only have a few weeks left as a family of 3 and it is kind of blowing my mind. We’ve done a lot of fun things with Emma already this summer, but I want to fit in one or two more if we can before baby sister arrives — even if it’s just going to the pool or getting frozen yogurt.
Crafty stuff. My only real priority is to get a quilt pattern ready to go for the September edition of my pattern of the month project, so I need to get on that sooner rather than later. I’m also going to try to complete this month’s One Little Word prompt this week so I don’t fall behind once baby arrives, but if I don’t get it done, c’est la vie.
On the quilting front, I don’t have any projects with deadlines so I may not do much sewing this month. We’ll see. Up next on my “to-do” list are 1) a baby quilt for my new niece, 2) a twin-size quilt for Emma’s bed, and 3) a baby quilt for baby #2. I certainly won’t get all of those done in a month or even two — the end of the year is probably a better goal — but hopefully this month I can at least choose a design for each of those.
