Adjusting // To work life after a special assignment I was on ended somewhat abruptly last week. (Not in the sense that the ending was unexpected, but just that it the transition from workworkworkwork to DONE was very quick.) Since I only have 6-7ish weeks to go before maternity leave, it’s unlikely that I’ll delve into something else too deeply, so I’ll try to enjoy the downtime.
That said, I do actually have an interview this afternoon for what (if they pick me) would be a promotion. Even though I obviously won’t be able to fully tackle a new job until late this year, I think I have a good shot. So…wish me luck!!
Searching // For some sort of chair for Emma’s room to replace the glider. (We are basically moving all of Emma’s furniture into the baby’s room, and getting her all new things. Thankfully she doesn’t seem phased by it!) We looked at a few armchairs at Macy’s on Saturday while Jose was trying on shirts, but I’m totally wishy washy about what I want. At the end of the day, it needs to be something comfortable we can sit on to read books before bed and that kind of thing. Do I really want a nice armchair for a kid’s room?
Playing // With a new-to-me sewing technique. I tried Shannon Brinkley‘s scrappy bits applique method on the mini quilt I’m making for a Texas-themed swap, and really loved how it turned out! (I don’t want to post any full photos until a couple weeks from now once it’s been received, because I took inspiration very directly from my partner’s mosaic and I don’t want her to figure out what she’s getting!)
Planning // To transition this blog to a new webhost this weekend. Hopefully it will be seamless, but if you have issues getting here late this week, that’ll be why.
What about a bean bag chair for Emma’s room? It probably wouldn’t be the best for you to get up and down while pregnant, but it would be more kid-friendly and easier to move around than a full-on arm chair. I’ll bet This End Up or a store like that would have some nicer and larger bean bag chairs that would hold up and be more comfortable than the typical Walmart/Target cheap version.
Good luck on the interview!
Oh, also, there’s some sort of store that sells GIGANTIC bean bag chairs, they are all sorts of awesomeness. And they would transition well into elementary and teenage kid rooms.
I thought about a bean bag chair, and may still get one…but even though I know it’d be easier when I’m not pregnant, it doesn’t really seem like the ideal solution for sitting and reading, or for just sitting in there hanging out with her while she plays.
Good luck on the interview!! My fingers are crossed for you!
Thanks Delaney! I think it went ok, so…my fingers are crossed too!
Which web host are you switching from and to and why?
I’ll email you.
