I finished this mini quilt for the Schnitzel & Boo swap over the weekend and stitched on the label on Tuesday night. I’ll be dropping it in the mail today, along with a few extras!
This was a fun swap to participate in, and the first time I’ve ever made a mini quilt. This one measures ~21 inches square. Most of the fabrics are from the Brambleberry Ridge collection by Violet Craft, since I saw it mentioned on my partner’s Instagram feed as something she liked. I ordered a random assortment of 8 fat quarters — random as in I didn’t get to pick the patterns. I was hoping for more blues and greens, but got purples and browns. I was worried that there wasn’t enough contrast between colors and prints, but in the end I think it worked out ok. (The purple and green mottled solid-ish fabric came from Joann’s.)
The pattern is based on Elizabeth Hartman’s “Honey” quilt (featured in this book) but I had to re-do the quilt math in order to make it smaller, and to add the larger hexagon. I tend to overestimate my precision piecing skills, so there are several points that don’t quite match up perfectly but overall it came together pretty well and I’m proud of it! I hope my partner likes it too!

That’s a really cute pattern. I’ve never seen it before.
