Emma and I spent Saturday morning hanging out with our friends Cindy and Jake at the Galveston Children’s Museum — which, as it turns out, is brand new! It had only been open for 2 weeks! And it is now officially my favorite new “find” in the greater Houston area.
I’ve had a visit to the Houston Children’s Museum on my list for a while, but we hadn’t made it there yet. This one in Galveston, though much smaller, is cheaper ($6 per person and free parking) and just as close! In fact, given the basically permanent traffic jam heading north from League City these days, getting to Galveston is probably faster for us than getting to the Houston museum district…
It’s located on the ground floor of the Moody Mansion, which in itself is a super cool historic home. (I have now added “Moody Mansion tour” to my list of things to do.) We arrived about 5 minutes after they opened at 10:00 and had the place to ourselves for a good 20 minutes before any other families else even arrived.
Emma had a great time exploring all the different rooms and playthings. Both she and Jake were drawn to this room first, with a little stage in the corner, flashing lights, and a curtain to hide behind.
We also spent a while in the toddler room, which was full of various toys, blocks and puzzles. There was also a basket full of sea shells and rocks that was a huge hit with both kids.
We had such a fun morning! I think we’ll find ourselves down there again soon.

That looks fun. I didn’t know that was there. Will have to check it out.

Looks like you had a ton of fun that day! I was looking for photos of the Galveston Children’s Museum for a blog post on kodokids.org – would you mind if I used one of these images? I would certainly give photo credit!
Thank you for your consideration,
