Goals for February are coming tomorrow; here’s how I did with my January goals.
Finish the draft narrative for my Master’s Project, plus 3 more posters. I did indeed complete my draft narrative and sent it off to my advisor for review. It took longer to put together than I anticipated though, so I didn’t finish 3 posters — instead, I finished two (here and here) and am halfway done with the third (which will be the 7th overall).
Read before bed. I finished one book early in the month and finished another (the book club book) on Thursday night. That may not sound like a lot, but I was good about getting in bed early enough to read at least a couple times each week. Discovering that I can read on the treadmill after all helped too!
Build a countertop in the laundry room. This didn’t get done. I could blame all the illness (mine and Emma’s) plus a visit from Jose’s family that occupied one weekend, but really, the thing that prevented me from doing this one is the distance to Ikea. In figuring out exactly how to make this, I realized that Ikea sells a table top that is exactly the size I need and is only $20. Cheap Ikea MDF is more than sufficient for what I want, and it’s already finished — no sanding or staining required!
But with all the other stuff we had going on this month, I couldn’t justify the 1.5-hour round trip just for a $20 purchase. Therefore, I decided to put this minor project on hold until we need a few more things to make the trip worthwhile (or until we have some other errand or event on that side of town for which we can combine trips).
Get quote(s) for installing crown molding. I didn’t get this done either, although I really do blame illness and visitors for it. There was never a convenient time to have anyone come over to do a quote with all that going on. It just didn’t turn out to be a good month to tackle any home improvement stuff, no matter how small.
Track calories every day. Done! I’m back at my pre-pregnancy weight of ~175 although my midsection is still…well, squishier…than it was before Emma. But c’est la vie. I can once again fit into clothes I haven’t worn since my first trimester two years ago. That was really my goal, so I’m pretty excited about it!

“it was constantly annoying to me to not have an end table because of the co-sleeper”
Isla has been in our room for 2 years now, and I miss having an end table so, so, so much! It drives me crazy not having one.
