I didn’t spend quite as much time over the break working on my Digital Media Studies Master’s Project as I’d originally planned, but I still made some progress. This is the fifth poster in my series and features SOHO — the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. It’s a joint NASA-ESA spacecraft launched in 1995 and permanently located at the Earth-Sun L1 point, where it has a clear view of our star 24 hours a day. Its original mission was only 2 years, but it’s been extended several times and will currently continue operating through at least the end of 2016.
I’ve always had a soft spot for SOHO for reasons I can’t totally explain. I think it’s got something to do with the cool images it returns and all the fun colors scientists use when producing their images. Plus, did you know SOHO has discovered over 2,400 comets — more than HALF of all known comets? Pretty neat.
Overall, this one came together quickly and I’m really happy with the result. Five down, at least 7 more to go…
