With 2 weeks until Christmas, I am so very excited to report that I have FINISHED stitching the entire front of Emma’s stocking. Cross stitch? Done. Outlining back stitch? Done! Name added? DONE. Last weekend I bought some holiday fabric, and all that remains is making the stocking itself and stitching this onto the front.
I can’t even express how much pride I feel looking at this thing. I started it in October 2012, and while there were weeks or a month when I didn’t make any progress, overall it’s been a consistent project for the last 14 months. I certainly put in several hundred hours of work on this, and it’s not an exaggeration to say the final number is probably closer to 1,000 hours than 0.
The above photo is the finished product, but below is a final set of progress shots from the last few weeks. I’ll post one more time, of course, when I hang a fully finished stocking on the fireplace this weekend!

Backstitching nearly complete! Only missing ornament hooks and a name…
Tracing a pattern to cut fabric for the stocking
What am I going to do when I’m sitting on the couch watching TV now?? I’ve been cross stitching basically every time I’ve done that for months, so it now feels strange to sit and watch without something in my hands! I guess it’s time to work on the embroidery skills Rachel taught me back in October…
