We took a quick trip to Corpus Christi over the weekend for Emma’s second birthday party — which was really the third celebration in all! As I’ve told several people already, it’s a good thing she won’t remember this one or else she’ll expect multiple parties every year. Jose’s aunt Ami hosted at their house in Sinton, which is about 40 minutes northeast of Corpus. They have a house on a couple acres of land, and they’re totally turning it into a family compound — every time we go, they’ve added something. There’s now a garage building just for pool playing and hanging out, plus plenty of outdoor toys for the kids, plus a large above-ground pool, plus a treehouse…you get the idea. There are even peacocks, chickens, and several tropical birds that talk and sing — it’s practically a zoo. Needless to say, it was a great location for a party!

Checking out the pinata that Jose’s mom made
After a few photos of Emma admiring her pinata, we turned things over to the big kids. It didn’t take long before it split open and candy spilled everywhere.
Candy! (Too bad she wasn’t allowed to eat any of it.)
Emma cautiously checking out the cake
We got several good family photos — and please note Emma happily licking red icing off her fingers.
Yeah, I think she liked the icing…and gotta love that food coloring. I don’t know what the grocery stores use, but that stuff is industrial strength!
After cake, we headed outside to open presents. She got a TON of fun things, including a wagon (which is what she’s helping me open in the photo above), a cool ride-on toy, and lots of clothes.
We also go to meet Emily, Jose’s cousin Erika’s daughter who’s about 6 weeks younger than Emma. Emily is walking already!! I couldn’t believe it.
Emma crashed HARD after opening presents and was so pooped that she slept until almost 9:00 Sunday morning — which means it’s safe to say that it was quite the party and we all had a great time.
