Stitching // Charlotte’s Christmas stocking. I officially started last Sunday night while watching The Walking Dead — I like that show, but need something to keep my hands busy while watching it! The goal is to have it done by Christmas.
Choosing // My goal race for Couch to 5K — the Aliens vs. Astronauts 5K on March 19. It’s close to home, it starts at the leisurely hour of 9 a.m., and most importantly, it fits into my C25K plan pretty perfectly since I’ll be wrapping up Week 9 on the training plan a week before the race. Woo!
Considering // Whole 30. I’ve heard so much about this eating program but have always dismissed it as a fad. But after hearing one of the creators on “Happier” — and since I’m currently having trouble losing the baby weight from pregnancy #2 — I’m tempted to give it a shot. The biggest hurdle would be me attempting to follow Whole 30 while Jose and Emma eat normally. I’m really not sure how I would reconcile that.
Watching // OK Go’s video for their song “Upside Down and Inside Out,” which they filmed on the Russian version of the Vomit Comet. I’ve been on a weightless flight several times, and the catch is that the weightless periods only last 20-30 seconds. If you watch the video carefully, you can see where the cuts are when each weightless period ends, but the coordination required to make it appear nearly seamless is impressive.
The other thing I noticed was that all of the motion seemed a tad quick and jerky, almost like the band members were somehow in fast-forward. I couldn’t figure out what caused that until I watched this behind-the-scenes video, which revealed that the final video is actually sped up by ~25% from real-time. Aha!
Sleeping // On a new mattress. After 6.5 years, our old mattress was way overdue for a replacement. It was pretty cheap and had developed big divots on each side where we slept. After a ridiculous amount of back-and-forth, Jose and I finally agreed to splurge on a Tempur-pedic. (Goodbye tax refund.) I’ve slept on it for 2 nights and so far it is quite comfy.

So I’ve known people who have had really good experiences with cleanses. But it would be hard.

Tracking calories is quite good for me when trying to lose weight. I learned last night in my online class that 1 pound = 3500 calories. To lose a pound in a week you have to drop 500 calories/day from your recommended calorie intake based on Height/weight. 1/2 Pound a week is more attainable for me
