Tom Brokaw did a very nice piece about the US-USSR space race that aired during NBC’s Olympics coverage. I can’t figure out how to embed the video here, but it’s about 20 minutes and is well worth your time. At the end, the announcer touches on the cooperation that we do on a daily basis with the Russians as part of the ISS program, which is a really neat twist to an international relationship that was so strained just 40 years ago.
A few weeks ago, a special guest stopped by JSC to anchor the weekly Space to Ground broadcast:

And Koichi Wakata gave us a quick tour of his sleep station on the ISS, which is his only personal space onboard. Cozy, right?

In the non-space station department, an asteroid slammed into the moon last September, creating a flash as bright as Polaris (aka the North Star) that would have been visible to anyone looking at the moon at the time. Very cool!
